“Health Starts From Mouth.
Mouth is Part of the Body.
Health is From Head to Toe” - Eric Chong
Everyone knows that Health Starts From the Mouth. We all also know that the US healthcare system needs some work. But the biggest failing of it is the oversight and gap of coverage of the mouth. Oral health is more than a bright smile and fresh breath. It's confirmed to be a vital component of health and well-being.
The connection is not a new concept, but it has gained significant attention in recent years. Since the 1600s we have known that teeth are the 5th or 6th leading cause of death. It always was and will be the primary indicators of health and wellbeing in the body. There is no better place in the body to understand the effects of our choices and habits. These show up as both short and long-term indicators of health.
We know now that 70% of all heart disease and breast cancer starts from the mouth. 90% of all disease starts from the mouth. That means no word or law can change the reality that the most important part of the body for health is oral health. Yes, most diseases and medical conditions we spend millions for research on are a waste of time. They only seek to defend profit for a company, while doing harm to patients.
Without getting too much into philosophy and fundamentals. We are all here to live, there are universal laws. We should do our best to live well and in support of others because thats the way we want to be treated. We do this without killing and or hurting others just for greed or profit. Most pharmaceutical companies and hospitals have lost sight of the patient. Focusing more on profit and science propaganda instead of evidence and real data.
President Biden has promised to reduce cancer by 50%, he won't be able to do anything other than get out of the way. No politician can ever help people be healthier, except to remove the red-tape and get out of their way. Politics has already done too much to create the deadliest law, the dental exclusion.
Politics causes unnecessary harm and shutdowns that do not make any medical sense. For example, chasing an invisible virus with only a 1% dead rate, before and without proof. Meanwhile, shutting down the entire country and closing the best source of defense. It's provoking a war but telling the army to go home and turning the Navy and missles off! Remember the excuses, PPE, they said dental offices used to much. This was the reason and/or excuse they gave to shut down dental offices, unless they were open for emergency.
In a nutshell, instead of letting the professionals (Licensed Dentists & their Team), do their job. The government chose to shut them down. Instead, they outfit thousands of random untrained volunteers. that may or may not even work a full shift?
Meanwhile the professionals are eliminating the 70-90% of all known diseases? And the volunteers are scrambling to lower a questiontable 1%? There isn't a license or degree required to know this. Everyone knows 70% is more important than 1%.
This was the worst public health policy decision they made to shut down Dentist. We know emergencies are not created overnight. "Whats an elective today, if delayed becomes an emergency tomorrow." What benefit does creating emergencies do other than raise cost and confusion?
Shutting down dental offices is the the last thing any government concerned about the health of its people would do. In our current reactive model, its almost usually already too late. It's clear not only as a health policy, but especially under emergency situations, this is a bad idea. Dentists are our first line of defense for a health and wellbeing. To remove dental only leads to more serious health or medical conditions.
Dental is Medical, much more medical than we know. The Dentist that understand this will get much farther ahead. Dentists who embrace the oral-systemic health connection can position themselves at the forefront of this rapidly growing industry. By offering comprehensive care that addresses the needs of the whole person, they can differentiate themselves from other dental practices and attract patients who prioritize their overall health.
To take advantage of these opportunities, dentists should consider implementing a health starts from the mouth approach to their dental practice. If they are not already doing medical billing for the procedures that qualify, they should. There's already too much malpractice in dental, last thing you want to do is get sued because you weren't getting paid enough in the first place, double ouch. Be and get paid for being the Dental doctor that you are.
The oral-systemic health connection and getting paid for it is a hidden opportunity for dentists to improve patient outcomes and position themselves in a $900 billion industry. By leveraging their unique expertise and partnering with other healthcare professionals, dentists can play a critical role in disease prevention and management, while also tapping into significant financial opportunities.
